With winter still firmly gripping the hills, it was good to head down the coast to Aberystwyth and see some signs of spring. Even better, I had a couple of hours spare to stop at a favourite cafe and take a quick ride to check out a few local trails.

Siop Cynfelyn, at Cletwr in Tre-Ddol, is a community run enterprise that's been growing strongly since 2013. The project started when a community group took over a disused garage to create not just a well stocked shop, but also a cafe with tasty healthy food and a gallery to host exhibitions and events.

Local is very much the theme here. The volunteer staff live in the surrounding area and use fresh and local ingredients wherever possible in the kitchen. Local market-gardeners' produce fills the shop baskets and every month the gallery hosts a different artist, either from the area or inspired by a visit. There's also a busy events diary with something for all ages.

Positioned right at the side of the A487, Cletwr is also on the Wales Coastal Path and caters happily for hungry walks and horse riders. Already popular with road cyclists, this quality stop is likely to become a firm Bike Corris favourite too.
