Bike Corris has officially opened for business with our first Weekend Break getting off to a flying start.
Hard in training for the colossal Jorberg2C nine-day epic, Issy, Ryan and Ben flew into Llandebr airfield aiming to pack as many miles of trail and metres of height into their weekend as possible. Thankfully for my legs, the team also like a fine descent and were keen to sample the famous Dyfi singletrack too.
After a hearty breakfast, we left Penrhos Cottage and headed up the infamous First Enduro Climb and out to the furthest reaches of the forest. The Far Side of Dyfi is a good pedal away, but the reward is an area packed with tasty trails that see very little traffic. As the rain closed in, we sheltered in a mountain hut for lunch before heading home along ancient quarrymen’s paths to watch the rugby in front of a roaring fire.
Sunday brought a crisp start with stunning light, so we chose classic cross-country tracks with stunning views of Snowdonia. Film ace Will joined us to shoot sections for the forthcoming Bike Corris Movie, bringing the extra benefit of sessioning the best bits of trail for the camera, and pushing back up for the legs! After a panoramic lunch stop, we dived back into the forest to test our technical skills on the rapidly drying Enduro stages until tea and cake beckoned.

"Dave showed us a huge variety of trails, with 40km of riding both days and plenty of climbing! The majority of the climbing is on fire tracks which makes life easier. We did lots of singletrack, all different and interesting and not too technical. Fantastic views, particularly on the second day. Dave knew the area like the back of his hand and was able to adjust the plan for the day as we went along. The cottage was warm and cosy, just what was needed after a day on the bike. My only disappointment was that I didn't get my QOM on the first climb, so I will be back! hopefully soon. I would highly recommend Bike Corris and mountain biking in the Dyfi Valley"
