Heading for New Horizons

Celebrating a Decade…

Bike Corris was established in 2015 with the vision to build on the stunning trail network in Dyfi. By working in partnership with local communities and business, it developed into a leading part of the bike culture of the area.

There have been so many highlights over the years. Here are some of my favourite rewards:

  • Creating the Dyfi MTB Trail Association and running dig-days. Seeing locals and visitors working together to maintain and improve our local trails was a great buzz. There have been many ups and downs along the way, but there is now a stable platform for landowner relations to develop and grow. It has also given me a decade of experience to drive forwards across the UK.

  • Hosting MTB events, including movie nights, bike show and endurance rides to raise money for local children’s charities. Did you know there are over ten children’s charities in a community of only 8,000 people, and all area essential to allow families to live in the area? By creating events to attract people from away, as well as within the community, I have managed to bring external funding into Dyfi for the youngest residents.

  • Guiding, Mentoring and Employing the local ywff. The kids are the future, not just for the sport, but also the community. Through business and social riding, it has been a pleasure to see the local lads develop talent, enthusiasm and drive, not just on the bike but for life. Bike Corris proteges now work in Atherton Bikes, British Cycling and international photography to name a few careers. Seeing the ywff stand on enduro podiums is cool, but seeing the number of bikes in drawings on the wall in my sons’ schools is the ultimate reward.

…And Moving On!

Working as UK Trails Project Manager for SRAM at Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBINS) has given me the opportunity and privilege to use my knowledge and experience to help develop policy and systems to make mountain more sustainable for generations to come, throughout the UK.

We are moving to Scotland to be closer to my work, and the networks that make Scotland a world leader in the field.

Thank you to:

Local Guiding?

Bike Corris guiding has finished, but I can highly recommend Rikki Barratt (now The Main Guide In The Village) and Steve Beech (Wheelism) (The Guide In The Other Village). Check out their range of guided dates, or give them a call for a custom booking. Both know the area very well and contribute a LOT of time and effort into supporting their local riding communities. For longer distance and multi-day trips including Traws Eryri and Trans Cambrian, I can recommend MTB Wales.
